Moving to Election Day, 4 November - a historical day for both the nation and Malcolm. Yep, we'll remember that day for the rest of his life. My cute sister Chelle came to watch the vote returns with me. Around 5pm the boys (Jesse & Malcolm) were throwing and chasing after a small ball. We were all in my room, I was changing Lillie's diaper on the bed and the boys went for their ball that rolled the same bed. Clunk! Malcolm hit his head on the mattress frame and immediately started crying - I gave his head a quick, one-armed hug and told him he'd be alright, he walked off whimpering.
I went back to finishing up with Lillie and glanced down at my "good" white tee shirt and thought chocolate (darn Halloween candy) that Lillie had somehow found and devoured had ended up on me. Upon further inspection I noticed it was blood and checking out MY hands, wondered where I was bleeding from. Then it hit me that Malcolm was bleeding and sure enough, he had managed to cleanly and deeply split open the skin just above his right eyebrow. Without a question he needed stitches.
At about the same age, Jesse fell off the glider in his bedroom and hit the edge of our baseboard and cut the back of his head. I remember calling my dad to ask, how do you know if a wound needs stitches or not. My dad said if I was even questioning it, stitches were needed - in that case Jesse got two staples and now has a nice scar on his scalp to prove it! WARNING - Medically Graphic Picture Below.
So, Malcolm not to be outdone by his brother, had to have four stitches and shouldn't have much of a scar as it disappears over time. Thanks to Chelle being there and coming along with me and all three kids to the InstaCare, we had her camera to document the evening.
Malcolm and I at dinner - me showing off the blood stains on my tee shirt.
Malcolm scored a family dinner at his most favorite restaurant, IHOP (or IHOT as he says) and Dora the Explorer band-aids. He sported those pink and purple Dora band-aids too!
Nope, couldn't talk him into Diego, Spiderman, Batman, Scooby-Doo or even SpongeBob band-aids! Malcolm was so brave, I'm kinda proud of him!

I was waiting for some deep thoughts on our new black president and how your brown boys feel that change has come and that they may too be the leader of our free country.
NOOOOOOOO. blood and guts is what we get :)
I'm so glad it wasn't more serious.
He is a trooper...and super cute too.
I am glad tha tyou have entered the blogging world again - I've missed ya!
It's all fun and games until someone bonks their head on the matress rails! Poor Malcom! How cute he wanted the Dora band-aid, and didn't care about the color. He's too funny!
