Let me start out by saying, I have looked forward to this day for at least 3 years. My middle child has given me more gray hairs than the other two kids put together. Not joking. He has been my trial from the beginning of his time on this earth. I began to look at Kindergarten as a new beginning. Hopefully he is better behaved at school than at home. Hopefully he will make many friends. Hopefully he will continue to develop compassion, empathy for his classmates & trust in his teachers.
First thing Malcolm did when he got up this morning was have a shower, without being asked. He was just a little excited, school for him doesn't start until 12:37PM. He was pleasant all morning. Mostly playing his DS. I chose to clean. It was fabulous! I got rooms straightened, floors vacuumed & the main floor mopped too! All the while I kept thinking about my baby boy going to school. I thought about all the cute firsts he has done this week too. I do see the light, he is maturing, softening a bit.
I had a few tears surface as I was cleaning. But as Malcolm, I did a great job of hiding them. I will miss having him around for those almost 3 hours. Oh alright, no I won't! I know he will be learning, growing, developing friendships and maybe learning to be a bit more grateful for his parents & siblings, especially his sister Lillie. They have such a love, hate relationship. Sometimes it drives me to scream.

Walking to school he kept taking deep breaths, I asked him if he was nervous and he said yes. I told him to not worry about it, he wouldn't be the only one nervous in his class. He's so cute & sweet, deep-deep down inside. And I love him to pieces!

| At school. This was the last smile, due to nerves or trying to be a tough guy. |
