Happy 3rd Birthday Baby!

I am not a birthday person, but decided this past year that my kids deserve to be celebrated and I've started a Birth Day tradition of sorts. Their day starts with waking to a bedroom floor filled with balloons and if they can read, a note written on their bathroom mirror. Then we head off as a family to IHOP for breakfast (my kids love IHOP). This past year everyone had a friend birthday party, I am toying with the idea that it will be an every other year type of thing . . . we'll see what next year brings.

There were signs, weeks before, that this little girl was soon turning three years old. We didn't have "terrible-two's", but I am full on ready and looking forward to the challenges this, her third year of life brings.

Lillie was lucky enough to have Aunt Chelle come down from Logan for her birthday. (I was quite lucky too . . . she was a huge help with the party)

Brothers and Dad.

Lillie usually gets the chocolate chip "Funny Face" pancake, but for her birthday she decided on the "Create-a-face" pancake and loved it!

Lillie's birthday theme was Rainbows. She invited 3 of her closest friends. We started off the party by helping the kids decorate a colorful tee-shirt. Not quite as hands on fun for them as I had thought, but they were very patient and loved the ideas of what to put on their shirts . . . which was mainly their name.

Then I took the kids outside to draw with chalk on the sidewalks around our house. They were all so bashful about it, I am sure they'll be blooming artists in a year or so. I was so into trying to get them to draw on the sidewalk that I didn't take any pictures.

After a bit we all came back inside to sing Happy Birthday to Lillie and have some rainbow cupcakes and juice.

Aren't they the cutest kids ever! Adorable, respectful, a little on the timid side.

Lillie managed to scare them into not eating their rainbow cupcakes . . . she got so messy! Okay, maybe they were a little scared of all the colors!

Then we were going to try finger painting, but Chelle nixed that. Since they hadn't liked the chalk on the sidewalk and were scared of getting messy with the cupcake, finger painting most likely would have been a flop with this 2-3 year old crowd. So instead we went downstairs to our "theater" room and let them play basketball, ring-around-the-rosie, roll the ball and anything else they wanted to do. That was a hit! I am so glad I had Chelle around.

We then moved onto the presents. Lillie got some really cool gifts. A beading set and a little hand mirror to decorate herself. A couple of long-sleeved shirts, which she definitely needed. A princess crown and 4 different Dora card games.

Pretty proud of our 3 year old Princess. She a whole lot of shy, attitude, silliness and sass rolled into one! Love you Baby Girl!
