Evenly divide into 6 bowls, they don't have to be too big, it works out to about 3/4 cup per bowl (give or take).

Add your GEL Food Coloring. There was a mixing chart on the back of the box I had bought, but the GEL coloring didn't really come out in drops . . . long thin strips. So I ended up winging it. We wanted deep colors so added until we reached the right tone. Remember your primary color wheel. And yes, I know you are thinking, "There are 7 colors in the rainbow." You are correct, we eliminated Indigo.

We then started layering in the color. We ended up over-filling a few, definitely stick with using just about a teaspoon of each color for each cupcake. If you want it to resemble an actual rainbow, here is your order (I had to look it up). Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. We did half right-side up and half upside down.

Bake as Directed.
And there you go! We topped ours with a fluffy "cloud" of white, vanilla frosting.
